OUT NOW: Kaisa’s Machine – Taking Shape

The album Taking Shape by Kaisa’s Machine is out now!

Bassist, bandleader, and composer Kaisa Mäensivu describes the new music of Taking Shape as “an energetic and hard-hitting musical celebration”; it’s her first album as a New Yorker.

Of the track “Floating Light” in particular, Kaisa says, “The bass line and the drum groove were inspired by a repetitive rhythm that I heard in the NYC subway that stuck with me for months until I wrote the song and let it out.”

The piece features brilliant solos by guitarist Max Light and tenor saxophonist Tivon Pennicott.

Featured across the full album are Light, Pennicott, Sasha Berliner (vibraphone), Eden Ladin (piano), and Joe Peri (drums).
