We’ve got a new single from Manuel Valera and his New Cuban Express Big Band from their upcoming release José Martí en Nueva York.

The track is “Si Quiere Que De Este Mundo,” an exciting modern Latin jazz arrangement that allows the band let loose, displaying its powerful ensemble sound. Tight rhythms and punchy percussion abound. The main theme is articulated by Argentinian vocalist Sofia Rei, who evokes a fearlessness against the odds, before an extended solo section, featuring solos from leader / pianist Manuel Valera, trumpeter Michael Rodriguez, bari saxophonist Andrew Gutauskas, and drummer Jimmy Macbride.
