Listen to “La Jungla” from Julieta Eugenio now

Today we’re releasing the third single from JUMP, the debut album by Argentinian saxophonist Julieta Eugenio!

On this track, the tenor saxophone-bass-drums trio starts right in with a rollicking 6/8 African groove. Matthew Dwonszyk’s jaunty bass line reflects the jungle of city life, while Julieta’s melody expresses the freshness of nature found within the city limits. Her searching improvisation shows her mastery of the saxophone as she fleshes out the theme, while the trio looks for common ground throughout. Jonathan Barber’s drum investigation follows, showing his percussive prowess while exploring the song’s form admirably. Julieta’s melody returns, like a familiar face after a long journey. This is trio playing at it’s best – a cohesive ensemble sound that lets every voice be heard within Julieta’s creative composition.
