Announcing Anniversary, the debut album by Emi Makabe

We’re announcing a new artist, Emi Makabe, who is a vocalist, composer and shamisen player. Her debut album, Anniversary, will be released on October 30th.

The album is a set of eleven of Emi’s original compositions, which blend pop and Japanese folk melodies with cross-cultural instrumentation and jazz improvisation. Her band features Thomas Morgan on bass, Vitor Gonçalves on piano / accordion, and Kenny Wollesen on drums / vibraphone, and they have a unique ensemble sound that brings Emi’s unique musical aesthetic to life.
