Second single from Julieta Eugenio’s ‘JUMP’ out now

Out now is the second single – and title track – from saxophonist Julieta Eugenio’s debut album JUMP.

The track is Julieta’s original composition for tenor saxophone, bass and drums. Written at the height of the pandemic, the piece hints at uncertainty and sorrow, but also the transitional moment of taking a leap of faith; launching into the new unknown with determination and newfound freedom. The trio lays out a forward-moving waltz groove, with Julieta voicing the reflective melody with depth and agility. Her improvisation is an inquisitive conversation with her bandmates; questions and (sometimes) answers abound. A searching bass solo from Matthew Dwonszyk continues the discussion, before the recap of the melody ends the track. This trio has a deep vibe, evoking strong feelings as they explore the music.
