We’ve launched a new single, the title track from the new Dave Douglas album, Overcome!

The word that took on new resonances through the depth of feeling and resilience during pandemic isolation, heard in the sombre tone of Douglas’ optimistic backbeat ballad with Camila Meza’s introspective lyrics. Meza’s clarion voice is featured too, with the support of Douglas’ trumpet and Ryan Keberle’s trombone, as they weave in and out of the musical fabric. Both take short solo turns before Meza returns. As the band heads into a groovy improv vamp, Fay Victor joins in support; the two voices weaving with the brass to sew a hopeful sound. The bass and drum tandem of Jorge Roeder and Rudy Royston provide subtle yet strong support throughout. Communal music making gets us through.
