Drummer Mareike Wiening’s “Encore” emerged from a deeply personal place: ‘It was dedicated to a cherished individual who departed too soon due to a brave battle with cancer,’ Wiening says. ‘I found myself deeply involved in their care, a journey laden with immense difficulty and stress. Now more than ever, happiness is of paramount importance.’
“Encore” features Wiening’s quintet with saxophonist Rich Perry, pianist Glenn Zaleski, guitarist Alex Goodman and bassist Johannes Felscher.
Mareike Wiening’s album Reveal is out November 10 worldwide on digital, streaming & streaming. The group is playing live in NYC November 1 and then head overseas for a stretch through Germany & Switzerland. Tour dates below.
