Agosto. Maybe the most “straight ahead” piece in the batch drives us to mutability on all levels. Listen to the way Susie shifts subtly between tempos and feels. Listen to the way Ribot hints at chord comping and walking bass. Listen to the way the cup mute gives off some 1930s steam. I stole that mute from my middle school. I still use it. I’ve never told anyone. Sorry.
