We’ve got a new single from the new Dave Douglas album Secular Psalms!
“Mercy” is the same word as Kyrie from the Latin Mass, and it strikes us that the passion in everyone’s playing here is requesting that safe relief. Superb drumming from Lander Gyselinck, bold guitar soloing from Frederik Leroux, and Dave Douglas’ trumpet leads the way through all the changes and meandering paths found on this track. Wild harmonies cascade in kaleidoscopic rays of light, the piece bobbing and diving into unexpected territory.
