ANFTD #89: Jeremy Pelt

Dave sits down with trumpeter and composer Jeremy Pelt about his latest project. ‘Griot,’ a book-length series of interviews with musicians, is Jeremy’s response to Art Taylor’s classic ‘Notes and Tones,’ originally published in 1977. Really insightful interviews exploring their musical origin stories, advice from mentors, and deep thoughts about race and music in America. Simultaneously, Jeremy has released an album entitled Griot: This Is Important! with new music and voices from the interviews. Highly recommended! Really enjoyed this conversation.
