We love making fun of the Times as much as anyone. But last week they ran a bracing 7-part series about the days of mobster Mickey Cohen and the LAPD’s elite Gangster Squad that reads like a great James Ellroy story, only it really happened. Real life L.A. Confidential for all you noir lovers! Even the series, art direction rocked. It’s certainly better than sitting through Changeling.
