Kalia Vandever is a trombonist and composer with a beautiful new solo record called We Fell In Turn, featuring her trombone with layers of sound and electronics. You can hear Kalia all over the world in improvising groups, including a spring tour with Mary Halvorson that’s already under way. We focus on concept and composition for the new solo record plus her earlier ensemble album, Regrowth, and in the EXTRA she brings the album Promises by Floating Points, Pharoah Sanders, and the London Symphony Orchestra for discussion.
