Ryan Keberle featured in JAZZIZ magazine

JAZZIZ magazine has a feature article on Ryan Keberle in their August issue. Check out page 36-48 for to read the entire piece.

Shaun Brady has penned an in-depth piece highlighting Ryan’s musical upbringing, his transition to New York City, his work with various groups on the New York scene, and his Catharsis ensemble, whose latest record is Find the Common, Shine a Light.

He quotes a couple of Ryan’s employer, Darcy James Argue:

Ryan’s great gift as a musician, and as a person, is that he is a full-on Epicurean. On the bandstand he is always completely in the moment, utterly devoted to the pure sensual pleasure of sound. He’s an exceptional technician on an instrument that presents serious challenges to the would-be virtuoso, but for Ryan music is always about sound and feeling first. Exceptional soloists don’t always make the best section players, but for Ryan what matters is the complete musical tapestry, not just the the thread he’s weaving, which is why he’s always in such demand.

Ryan will be playing some shows with Catharsis this weekend in the US Northeast. See you out there!
