We’re excited to announce that Greg Ward is joining Greenleaf Music!

A multi-faceted saxophonist and composer based in Chicago, Greg has instigated a number of his own creative projects and worked with artists such as Andrew D’Angelo, Lupe Fiasco, William Parker, Mike Reed and Tortoise.

Ward was commissioned by the Jazz Institute of Chicago to create an expansive work paying homage to Charles Mingus’ album The Black Saint and the Sinner Lady. The resulting piece features a large ensemble of first call Chicago improvisers along with a dance troupe choreographed by Onye Ozuzu.

The piece was premiered at the Chicago Jazz Festival in August 2015. Read the Chicago Tribune review here.

The live recording from that concert, which captures the immediacy and energy of the music, will be released as Touch My Beloved’s Thought on Greenleaf Music on July 8!
