Records by Owens, Jaki Byard, Billy Cobham and the folk, blues, jazz band Ars Nova are played and discussed. Jimmy also talks about his organizing and activism in support of music and musicians. Jimmy Owens is the recipient of this year’s Award of Recognition from the Festival of New Trumpet Music in New York. He will perform in New York on September 8, 2019 in celebration and with gratitude from the community.
