Donny McCaslin just came to Ann Arbor, Michigan with his trio last night and let me tell you, DO NOT MISS HIS Chicago/K-zoo shows!!!!!! He just took my personal TOP spot for the year-to-date for modern/straight ahead jazz think of the energy/intensity/creativity of Sonny Rollins Way Out West trio, but in his OWN incredible talented voice. The band SMOKED and the crowd here went nuts.I sustained a serious case of jazz neck swingin back and forth on his deep groove. Ive seen over 100 concerts this year, including his octet Spring of 08 show in Ann Arbor, and he remains at the TOP O THE HEAP! I will, from this day forward, see him ANY time and buy EVERY cd he will ever put out!
